Without them, our charity could not make the tremendous difference it does to the lives of older people in Liverpool & Sefton.
Why Volunteer with Us
Volunteering with older people is one of the most rewarding ways to give back. When you join us, you will:
Even just one hour a week can change someone’s day — and yours.
Sefton Befriending
Volunteering to support older people over 50 in the Sefton area is a simple yet powerful way to make a real difference. It’s all about spending quality time together — enjoying a coffee, having a chat, or going out for a walk or an afternoon out. By offering your company and a friendly ear, you help combat loneliness and bring warmth, connection, and joy into someone’s day. No special skills are needed — just kindness, a smile, and a willingness to listen.
Combat Isolation
Volunteering with people aged 50+ who are living with a mental health diagnosis across the Liverpool and Sefton area is about building gentle, supportive connections that help rebuild confidence and independence. Whether it’s meeting for a brew, browsing the shops, visiting a local café, or attending a community activity, your time and encouragement can help someone feel less alone and more comfortable stepping back into social life. By simply showing up, listening, and sharing everyday moments, you play an important role in helping people feel valued, included, and part of their community again.
Activity Volunteer
Volunteering at our head office is a fantastic way to get involved behind the scenes while making a real difference to our clients’ wellbeing. You could support our Activities Coordinator in planning and delivering sessions, setting up groups, and welcoming participants — or even bring your own ideas and run an activity yourself. Whether it’s arts and crafts, games, gentle exercise, music, or a discussion group, your time and creativity help us offer a wider range of engaging, meaningful activities that keep people active, connected, and inspired.
Walking Group Volunteer
Volunteering with our Walking Group is a great way to support wellbeing while enjoying the outdoors. As a Walking Group Volunteer, you’ll assist our lead volunteer during organised walks, helping to ensure everyone feels safe, included, and supported. You may also have the opportunity to plan interesting and accessible routes, introducing new local sights and green spaces for the group to explore. By encouraging gentle exercise, conversation, and connection, you’ll help create a welcoming space where participants can build confidence, friendships, and a sense of achievement.
Fundraising Volunteer
As a Fundraising Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in helping us continue our work by organising fundraising events or supporting at existing ones. From coffee mornings and community raffles to sponsored walks and awareness days, your enthusiasm and ideas can help bring people together for a great cause. Whether you’re planning, promoting, setting up, or welcoming guests on the day, your contribution will help raise essential funds while spreading awareness of the support we provide.
